Back to (Beauty) Basics

After over a year's absence from this blog, I've decided to take some time to write an update! It's a miracle -- I'm sure most of you have either stopped reading this blog altogether or just given me up for dead.

The truth is I have just been incredibly busy trying to balance a combination of things: family, work and social life, all of which seem to constantly compete and encroach on my alone time! It's hard to find a quiet moment on my own, much less have the time to maintain and upload a fully functioning blog. Still, this is my small attempt.

I went out shopping today for no particular reason and as per usual, returned home with bags full of beauty products that I don't actually need. Ugh! Talk about a serious retail addiction. Anyway, I hit L'Occitane, Dior and Givenchy. For a start, here are some products that I can review:
Voile de lait / Milk Veil (L'Occitane)
I read about this in L'Officiel magazine and for no particular reason, immediately raced out and bought it; no questions asked. (Ahh, the fatal lure of the media...) The verdict? I am in love. The product -- more liquid than cream -- goes on smoothly and feels rich and luxurious. It absorbs quickly and doesn't leave any sticky, slimy residue common in other body moisturizers due to Singapore's humidity; definitely a plus! I adore the light scent and the hint of shimmer it leaves on your skin - great when you're headed out and want a little extra 'glow'! Skin feels immediately moisturized and so far, seems to stay that way. No extra applications needed!

Bright Crystal Perfume (Versace)

I was looking for something to replace my failsafe Givenchy Very Irresistable perfume; something I've been using for years, and after an hour of wandering around Sephora sniffing countless perfumes and coffee beans, I finally came home with this. It may be too cloying and sweet for some people, but my favorite scents are a combination of sweet florals and freshness, and Bright Crystal definitely hit the right spots. It hits with a strong sweet mango/fruity scent at first (reminds me a little of Escada's Rocking Rio) but quickly settles into your skin and leaves behind a clean, almost linen-fresh scent, with just a tinge of sweet notes. In other words, it's perfect for all my girly nights out. I can see this becoming a favorite over all the other perfumes I own. :)

That's it for today - I'm still trying to get into the swing of things. I'll be posting an update soon about the Dior products I bought... I'm still trying to see if they actually work! ;)

Until next time! xoxo
